Home Use Checklist (Home Use With EEGer Overview)

This checklist is designed to provide an overview of the entire Home Use process. For additional information on each step, we encourage reviewing the articles linked below.

Technical Preparation

Ensure that the home-user has access to:

  1. A computer that meets EEGer’s minimum requirements.

  2. Access to the internet on the EEGer computer and the ability or knowledge of how to connect to the internet when needed.

  3. While not required, an external display like a monitor or TV is recommended. This allows the game screen to be shown separately from the wave screen.

Purchasing Equipment and an EEGer License

After both the clinician and the client have determined that Home Use with EEGer is the best approach, the purchase process can begin:

  1. Determine if two-channel or four-channel training is needed.

  2. Review the Home Use pricing options on our website.

  3. Determine if the supervising clinician or the home-user should purchase the equipment and license.

  4. Contact EEG Store by email to begin the purchase process.

    • Inform EEG Store which Clinical Dongle will be supervising the home-use system (if known).

  5. Complete the required Home Use Paperwork and License Paperwork (provided by EEG Store).

  6. Provide payment and shipping information for the order.

Once payment has been processed, orders typically ship within one to two weeks. Tracking information for the package will be sent by email, as well as installation instructions (included below too!).

Preparing the Clinical System

These steps should be followed by the Supervising Clinician using the Clinical EEGer system. These steps can either be done prior to the Home-User receiving their equipment or after their system has been setup.

  1. Upgrade the Clinical EEGer system to the latest software version.

  2. Install the latest enabling keyfile for the clinical license to allow the creation of Home Use client files.
Note: This process only needs to happen once! If the Clinical License already supervises a Home Use system, a new keyfile does not need to be installed.

  3. Create a Client ID for the home-user if one does not already exist on the clinical system.

  4. Create the necessary Home Use client files.

  5. Send the Home Use client files to the Home Use system.

Preparing the Home Use System

These steps should be followed once the equipment and license arrives from EEG Store. These steps can either be performed directly by the home-user or they can be performed by the Supervising Clinician to give to the home-user.

  1. Complete the EEGer QuickStart Guide to install EEGer and the latest keyfile onto the computer.

  2. Download and install the Home Use client files sent from the Supervising Clinician.

Preparing for a Session

At this stage the Home Use system is ready to run live sessions! Before getting started, there are additional considerations that should be made.

  1. Determine if the home-user will be running sessions on their own or if the Supervising Clinician will be remotely connecting to the system to directly supervise training.

  2. Before running a session, the Supervising Clinician should practice with the home-user to run the system, instruct them on applying electrodes, and how to check impedance.

  3. The Supervising Clinician should answer questions that their home-user has and contact EEG Store if issues are encountered.

Running a Home Use Session

  1. Before beginning the session, ensure that the Home Use dongle and EEG amplifier are connected to the computer.

    1. Ensure the amplifier is powered on, if needed.

  2. Open EEGer and select the appropriate Client ID for training.

  3. Observe that no error messages are reported on EEGer’s main screen, and verify that the plan session is correct prior to training (if needed).

  4. Begin a live session on the system! The process of running a session on a Home Use system is identical to running a session on a Clinical system.

Reviewing Session Data & Sending Update Files

  1. Review session data from the Home Use system as needed. This can be done by the Supervising Clinician on the Home Use system while remotely connected to the Home Use system, or from the Clinical EEGer system if the sessions have been exported.

  2. Create update files as needed to add session permissions or adjust the session plan.
